Kristi Noem wraps up Ecuador visit focused on security cooperation

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem ended her official visit to Ecuador on Wednesday after meeting President Daniel Noboa to discuss cooperation on security, law enforcement, and migration.

The talks, held at the Salinas Air Base, included briefings on criminal networks and Ecuador’s fight against organized crime. Noem praised the partnership on X, calling it “an honor” to meet Noboa and members of the Ecuadorian Air Force.

Her visit comes as Ecuador debates possible U.S. security cooperation facilities. While Noboa has not confirmed plans for a base, he posted a photo with Noem saying, “We’re going after those who’ve done whatever they wanted since 2008.”
