President Daniel Noboa announced Thursday that Ecuador’s official government headquarters will return to Quito after operating for six weeks from Latacunga, Cotopaxi.
Noboa had moved the Executive Branch to Latacunga on September 13, a day after scrapping the diesel subsidy — a decision that sparked a month of protests nationwide.
“Latacunga became the heart of Ecuador when the country faced its most uncertain days,” Noboa said on X. He thanked the city for its support, adding that it will “forever be a symbol of dignity, courage, and strength.”
